About Rancho Mirage

City Boards & Commissions

The City Council is accountable to the citizens of Rancho Mirage for its actions and, therefore, cannot delegate its policy making responsibility.

City Government

The City of Rancho Mirage was incorporated in 1973, as a general law city. In 1997, the citizens voted to change the City to a Charter City. As a Charter City, Rancho Mirage is able to exert more control over municipal affairs.

The records vault provides archived agendas and minutes for the various commissions, City budgets and other documents.

Election Information

City Council consists of five members, elected by the citizens of Rancho Mirage on the second Tuesday of April in even number years. Council Members are elected at large for a four year term, with City wide voting alternating every two years.

Rancho Mirage Environmental Programs are focused on providing sustainable tips, resources & information regarding city programs, requirements & updates for helping the community move towards a more sustainable eco-friendly city.

Library & Observatory

The Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory is a teaching and learning tool for all ages, intended to further enhance free public educational opportunities and expand on the understanding of our night skies while offering new programming in astronomy.
