Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station Welcome Captain Dean Agnoletto

Captain Dean Agnoletto assumed the role of Commander of the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station on July 16, 2020. The Palm Desert Station contracts with the City of Rancho Mirage to provide police services. Captain Agnoletto has 24 years of law enforcement experience with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. During his career, he has been assigned to SWAT, Gang Task Force, Central Homicide Unit and the Professional Standards Bureau.

Captain Agnoletto started his career as a Reserve Deputy, assigned to the Palm Desert Station. During that time, he completed his Bachelor’s degree at Concordia University. After graduation, he was appointed to a full-time position within the Palm Desert Station. In 2012, Agnoletto was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and served most of his time assigned to SWAT and the Professional Standards Bureau.

Captain Agnoletto is excited to be returning to the Palm Desert Station and is eager to serve the local communities as their station commander.

Automatic License Plate Readers

The City’s investment in public safety includes technologies that aid in crime prevention and detection. One such example is the Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system. This system features cameras that scan vehicle license plates and compare them to law enforcement databases to identify stolen or wanted vehicles, lost or stolen license plates, or vehicles associated with missing or wanted people. The ALPR technology is a valuable tool for law enforcement, and Rancho Mirage has invested in this equipment to aid in crime prevention and detection. What is classified as an emergency? The emergency line 911 is intended only for when immediate action or assistance is required, typically these events include when someone’s immediate health, safety, or property is actively under threat.

Non-Emergency or to Report a Crime

What is a non-emergency? A non-emergency is classified as a valid police matter that does not constitute immediate attention. A non-emergency line should be utilized when an immediate dispatch is not required. Some examples that would qualify as a non-emergency include; when time has elapsed since the reported incident has occurred, the suspect of a crime has already fled the scene, or when calling to report vandalism. Calling the 911 emergency line will not result in a faster response time, the line is only intended for emergency situations.

ATTENTION: Rancho Mirage Homeowner Associations, Property Management, HOA Board Members, Gated Residential Property Staff – Click here to learn more about City Ordinance No. 1170 “Gated Residential Emergency Access” and its corresponding Emergency Access Reimbursement Program and Reimbursement Request form. Gated communities have one year to comply with terms of the Ordinance beginning April 19, 2020.
