Automatic License Plate Readers (ALPR)

The City’s investment in public safety includes technologies that aid in crime prevention and detection. One such example is the Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system. This system features cameras that scan vehicle license plates and compare them to law enforcement databases to identify stolen or wanted vehicles, lost or stolen license plates, or vehicles associated with missing or wanted people. The ALPR technology is a valuable tool for law enforcement, and Rancho Mirage has invested in this equipment to aid in crime prevention and detection. Citizens on Patrol (COPS)

The Rancho Mirage Citywide COPS Program was formed in 1994, by resolution of the City Council, to serve as the "eyes and ears" for the Sheriff's Department. RMCOPS is made up of volunteers, ages 21 and older, who reside within the Coachella Valley.

Fire

Fire services for the City of Rancho Mirage are provided through a cooperative agreement with the State of California (Cal-Fire) and the County of Riverside. Cal-Fire/Riverside County Fire Department is an all risk, full service fire department and has two fire station located strategically throughout the City of Rancho Mirage with provide highly effective protection.

Police

The City of Rancho Mirage maintains a contract with officers dedicated to the City in the areas of suppression, prevention and enforcement.
