Code Compliance

The Code Compliance Division's primary mission is the improve the quality of life of residents and business and to  preserve property values. This is primarily accomplished through the enforcement of the City's municipal code and applicable State laws, such as the Health and Safety Code. Code Compliance frequently addresses what are commonly known as public nuisances as codified in the municipal code, however, nearly any section of the municipal code can be enforced by the Code Compliance Division. The following are some of the most common violations that are encountered:

  • Dead landscaping or vegetation.
  • Overgrown vegetation growing into a public right-of-way. (not private property)
  • Visible junk, trash, or other debris.
  • Properties that are abandoned or in disrepair.
  • Green/untreated pools which can promote mosquito breeding.
  • Inoperative vehicles.
  • Graffiti.
  • Unpermitted construction work.
  • Motorized for-landscape work at unpermitted hours.
    • Allowed (everywhere): Monday - Friday 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM
    • Allowed (golf courses): 5:30 AM to 7:00 PM, 365 Days Year
  • Construction work at unpermitted hours.
    • Allowed (everywhere): Monday - Saturday 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Reporting a Violation
The best way to report a violation or to ask a question about a possible violation is to e-mail the Code Compliance Division at:

code@ranchomirageca.gov or by calling (760) 770-3220, Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Short-Term Rentals
Code Compliance is responsible for the enforcement against unlawful short-term rentals. For more information about short-term rentals, please visit the following page: Short-Term Rental Information

Animal Services
The Code Compliance Division can assist with the following animal services:

  • Persistent / nuisance dog barking.
  • Dog bite investigations.
  • Dogs running at large / off-leash.
  • The disposal of cat or dog remains.
  • Borrowing of a humane cat trap.
  • Animal welfare investigations.
  • Bighorn sheep found at-large beyond the Big Horn Sheep fence.
The Code Compliance Division does not assist with:

  • Pest animal concerns such as: rats, birds, ducks, geese, coyotes, etc.
