Doing Business in Rancho Mirage
Building Permits & Inspections
Building permits are issued Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. All inspections before 3 p.m. will be done the following day. All inspection requests and questions should be emailed to BuildingDept@RanchoMirageCA.Gov. We will respond typically within 48 hours. Inspections will be performed Monday through Thursday.
Businesses Outside The City
Businesses based outside the city limits that wish to conduct a business, service, or contracting work within the City of Rancho Mirage (building contractors, gardeners, housekeepers, salesmen, delivery services, etc.) are required to obtain a Business License.
Business Licenses
When registering for licensing & permits in the City of Rancho Mirage you will need to submit the proper applications and forms.
Commercial Business
For businesses wishing to operate from a commercial location within the City of Rancho Mirage, a Use & Occupancy application must be completed and approved prior to the issuance of a Business License.
Construction Work Hours
No construction on Sundays and Holidays (New Years, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas). Work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday – Saturday. No special permit required.

Individuals wishing to conduct a business from a home located within the City of Rancho Mirage are required to complete a Home Occupation application prior to issuance of a Business License.
Landscape Related Business
As part of a valleywide ordinance to improve air quality and water conservation, prior to renewing or applying for a business license in Rancho Mirage, you are required to obtain (annually) two (2) Certificates of Completion issued by Coachella Valley Association of Governments and Coachella Valley Water District.
