This service is designed for you to report lost property or a property crime that is not occurring now or you are unable to identify a suspect. If you want to report an incident wherein a person was injured, threatened, or otherwise placed in danger, you should call (760) 836-3215 option #5 and a police officer will respond to your location. If you want to report a crime in progress immediately call 9-1-1.
You CANNOT use this on-line report form to report any of the following incidents:
- Any type of violent crime, including: physical assault, kidnapping, robbery, etc.
- Any type of sex crime, including; sexual assault (rape), child molestation, etc.
- Any type of stolen vehicle, including: trucks, cars, trailers, boats, motorcycles, etc.
- Any type of traffic accident, whether there is an injury or not.
- Any type of residential or commercial burglary.

Please use this on-line form to report the following incidents:
- Criminal Damage (vandalism)
- Auto Burglary
- Lost Property
If the value of the theft or criminal damage is over $400 please call the police department. This form is not used for thefts or vandalism that has an estimated value of greater than $400. This IS NOT a fast-response system. We may not be able to give you a report number for up to five business days from the time you file this report. If you need faster response time than that, you should call (760) 836-3215 option #5, for an officer to respond to your location, or you may come to the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station located at 73-705 Gerald Ford Drive in Palm Desert.
Most of the boxes on the report form are self explanatory. Please complete all fields that apply to the incident. Much of the information that you provide is utilized in preparing crime statistics and will assist the officer in completing a crime report. Please note that an asterisk (*) indicates required information that is essential and must be completed or the report cannot be submitted.
Do not print out this form and mail it to the Police Department. The form must be filled out online and entered with the submit button below.
Remember, this report format is for crimes that have occurred within the city limits of Rancho Mirage only. If a crime occurred in any area other than Rancho Mirage, you need to contact the law enforcement agency for that area.
