Trails
The Community Trails Commission consists of five members appointed by the City Council (Resolution Nos.: 98-18; 98-20). The Commission remains active in expanding, upgrading and maintaining the Citywide trails system. The Commission has been involved in neighborhood issues regarding the Bump and Grind Trail, the Multi-Species Habitat Conservation Plan, and the new Mirada Trail. They have also continued to study the development and maintenance of the City's trail system as a whole. The Commission has met with neighborhood groups regarding the Bump and Grind, discussed trail alignments and policy issues, especially the issue of dogs on the trail and of seasonal/permanent closures. Also discussed, has been the reactions of the Desert Drive/Magnesia Falls neighborhoods to the presence of hikers on the trails. A new trail head for the Bump and Grind Trail has been completed that is now located on Painters Path behind Old Navy in the Desert Crossing Shopping Center in Palm Desert. Members
